OET believes it is important that young people are enthusiastic about the vehicle that delivers their education. The youths OET are targeting typically struggle with mainstream education.
The success of the OET projects and the experiences of working with schools in the North-east of Scotland encouraged OET to create a 200-hour Core Skills course which would target individuals struggling to find a positive life destination. All learning outcomes on the Core Skills Through Football (CSTF) course can be achieved through tasks centred on football, in particular football reporting.
Working in partnership with North East Scotland College (NESCOL) and Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has allowed the course to be verified by their team of internal verifiers.
This course has already been warmly received and has been aligned to meet Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) requirements for Core Skills Levels 2 to 4. At the end of the course, students will receive a Core Skills certificate for the SCQF level they have achieved. The CSTF course aligns with existing Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) modules.
